FAAN calls for patience over ongoing road construction

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has urged the public to be patient as it intensifies work on some of its operational roads within the airport.

Managing Director of FAAN, Olubunmi Kuku, expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work, thanking the Lagos State government for collaborating with them on the project.

Recall that report that commercial vehicles operating Lagos airport lamented the failed roads.

One of the drivers, who spoke to newsmen in confidence, had said: “Looking at that road, until an accident that affects dignitaries occurs, they won’t see to its repair. If the common man dies there, they won’t care. They will only rise to the occasion when one of their families becomes affected. Don’t be surprised that that road has a yearly maintenance allocation that those managing it have refused to spend.”

Meanwhile, Kuku while inspecting the road construction ongoing between the Toll Gate Plaza and Gate 13, otherwise known as Legend Road, said the road should have been repaired a long time ago.

She said: “I am glad that we have started it, and we need the full cooperation of all road users and members of the airport community to complete it on time and to the desired specifications. I also want to thank the Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for partnering with us to ensure the speedy completion of this particular project.

“This collaboration is an example of the kind of productive partnerships we are open to encouraging at FAAN for us to make the experience of our passengers as pleasant as possible.

“I also want to thank the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for his leadership and guidance. His commitment and eye-for-detail have kept us on our toes, and we are glad that he continues to provide oversight on our work.”
