The Kano Pillars Football Club confirmed that during their trip to Plateau State for their Matchday 5 match in the first-ever U-19 Youth League, their U-19 squad bus was involved in a traffic accident.
The club conveyed their sorrow and care for the accident victims in a series of tweets posted on their official X account.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that the Kano Pillars FC U-19 team bus was involved in a road accident earlier today while en route to the New Jos Stadium for their Matchday 5 fixture in the inaugural U-19 Youth League against Plateau United U-19,” Kano Pillars tweeted.
The club confirmed that both the driver and several players sustained injuries in the accident but thankfully, there were no fatalities.
“Several players and the driver sustained injuries in the unfortunate incident and have been promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention,” the club stated.
Kano Pillars requested understanding and support from their fans during this difficult time. “Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time,” they added.
This incident comes just days after Kano Pillars’ first team played a 1-1 draw with Kwara United in the NPFL with Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa recording an assist.
