Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the removal of application fees for scholarships and bursaries offered by the Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB).
The announcement was made by LSSB Secretary AbdurRahman Lekki, who stated that this decision aligns with the administration’s commitment to promoting youth empowerment and social inclusion.
Lekki emphasized that eliminating these fees addresses concerns raised by stakeholders about access to educational opportunities, especially for economically disadvantaged students. He noted that the revenue generated from the fees accounted for only 0.5 percent of the agency’s budget, reinforcing the rationale for their removal.
The decision reflects Governor Sanwo-Olu’s strong commitment to equitable education, enhancing Lagos State’s reputation as an administration that actively supports its youth.
