No fewer than 13 people died in a road crash on the busy Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Friday.
The Kaduna State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the incident in Kaduna.
He stated that the crash occurred around 3 p.m. near Olam farm when a Toyota Hiace with 11 passengers collided with a Golf Salon carrying five passengers.
According to him, those who died had been moved to St Gerard’s Hospital, while three who survived were immediately conveyed to AP Smart Hospital, Kakuri, for further treatment.
He said it was imperative to also remind motorists that excessive speeding was dangerous.
Speaking on the incident, the Sector Commander urged drivers to always maintain the requisite speed limits while on transit.
He said, “As we enter the ember season fully, motorists are reminded of the need to adhere to basic safety ethics while travelling,” Nadabo said, urging drivers to observe speed limits and promising the FRSC’s commitment to road safety.
He assured the FRSC is committed to ensuring the roads are safe for all users.
