House of Representatives Investigates Abandoned Road Project in Kaduna

The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has initiated an investigation into the alleged abandonment of the Gidanwaya-Guaran Dutse-Waman Rafi-Saminaka-Kano road project in Kaduna State, valued at N1.46 billion.

The road project was awarded by the Federal Ministry of Works on October 5, 2022, with the full payment of N1.461 billion made to the contractor, Messrs Jam Jam Dynamic Platform Limited.

During an investigative hearing on Tuesday, PAC Chairman Rep. Bamidele Salam (PDP-Osun) expressed his dissatisfaction, highlighting that the project was financed through a loan taken by the Nigerian Government. He noted that the project was supposed to be completed within 12 months, but reports indicate that no work has begun.

The committee quizzed  Yakubu Adam, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Works, regarding the status of the project and the reasons behind its abandonment. The hearing is part of a broader effort to inspect critical national assets, particularly roads constructed during the previous administration.
