Enzo Fernandez and his wife, Valentina Cervantes, have separated, as Cervantes confirmed the separation.
The couple, who have two young children, are dealing with personal issues off the pitch, which has caused them to reconsider their relationship.
Cervantes explained their decision in an emotional Instagram story, saying, “Enzo and I have decided to take some distance from each other today.”
She emphasised their commitment to co-parenting, adding, “But we will always be family, and we will support each other in everything. Because there are two children involved who need a lot of love from us.”
Cervantes went on to express her admiration for Fernandez’s character and parenting abilities.
“I know the person Enzo is and what an excellent father he is, as well as the heart he has. And that is enough for me. Please don’t try to create conflicts where there are none,” she wrote, underscoring their mutual respect despite their separation.
Reports from Argentine media have provided insight into the couple’s private discussions, indicating that Fernandez has expressed a desire to live independently.
He has cited a need to explore life stages he missed due to early family commitments.
On the pitch, Fernandez has faced a challenging season since his record-breaking £105 million transfer from Benfica to Chelsea in January 2023.
Although he was initially named in the leadership group and served as captain in several matches, he has recently seen his starting position taken by teammate Romeo Lavia.
