President Bola Tinubu Set to Swear In Seven New Ministers on Monday

President Bola Tinubu will officially swear in seven newly appointed ministers on Monday, following a significant cabinet reshuffle that responds to growing calls for changes within his administration.

This announcement was made by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga.

The recent reshuffle comes in the wake of economic challenges that have put pressure on Tinubu’s government.

Last week, the Senate approved the appointments after a thorough screening process in Abuja. Among the new appointees are Nentawe Yilwatda, who will take on the role of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, appointed as Minister of Labour and Employment; and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who will serve as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Additionally, Jumoke Oduwole has been named Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, while Idi Mukhtar Maiha will lead the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata will serve as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad has been appointed Minister of State for Education.

This cabinet reshuffle follows Tinubu’s initial appointment of 48 ministers in August 2023, just three months after he took office. The decision to replace five ministers and reassign ten others signals Tinubu’s commitment to revitalizing his cabinet.

The changes aim not only to address the demands for a more responsive governance structure but also to bolster the administration’s ability to tackle the current economic climate.

As the new ministers prepare to take their oaths of office, there is a sense of anticipation regarding their potential impact on the administration’s policies and initiatives.
