Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with key stakeholders to tackle environmental, climate, and waste management issues across the state. Addressing the House of Representatives Committee on Ecological Funds, led by Chairman Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, Sanwo-Olu assured that Lagos State would utilize the Ecological Funds and other federal support effectively and transparently.
The governor emphasized the need for timely intervention to prevent escalating costs, stating, “You are visiting at a critical time when we truly need assistance. However, beyond help, we are seeking a partnership. Solving Lagos’s challenges benefits Nigeria as a whole, as Lagos is home to all ethnicities in the country.”
Sanwo-Olu appealed for continued support, adding, “We ask that any support provided be seen through to completion, as a project only achieves its full impact when entirely completed. I assure the committee of our readiness to collaborate, and we will ensure that all support received will be applied responsibly and deliver tangible benefits.”
In response, Hon. Jaji praised the Lagos State Government’s efforts in managing environmental issues and committed to advocating for increased federal intervention. “Our committee has observed the challenges facing Lagos firsthand. These are real, pressing issues that require long-term solutions. We are committed to ensuring that Lagos receives significant federal intervention through the Ecological Fund,” Jaji stated.
The visit underscored a collaborative push to address Lagos’s ecological challenges, with both federal and state parties pledging accountability and efficiency in utilizing funds for sustainable impact.
