Olawoyin makes back-to-back Super Lig TOTW

For the second week in a row, Ibrahim Olawoyin, a midfielder for Caykur Rizespor, has been named to the Turkish Super Lig Team of the Week.

He was added to the match-week 12 squad after his outstanding performance in their derby victory over Trabzonspor on Saturday, which ended in a 3-1 victory.

The 26-year-old scored his first goal of the season to complete Rizespor’s scoring in the match. His performance against Sivasspor last week, in which he also recorded his first assist of the season, was followed up on by this one.

He was given a 9.0 rating by the football stats website Flashscore for both games.

Olawoyin was named alongside Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who also bagged a brace for Galatasaray in their nervy 3-2 win over Samsunspor.

The former Rangers International man was named in a two-man midfield with Fenerbahce’s Mert Hakan Yandaş, while Osimhen was the lone striker.

“Still buzzing after the Derby win over Trabzonspor. Alhamdulilah for the goal too. Thanks to our passionate fans,” Olawoyin wrote via X on Sunday.

Saturday’s win was Rizespor’s fourth of the season after 11 games, having drawn one game and lost one.

They are currently 12th in the table with 13 points and a game in hand.

Olawoyin joined Rizespor from Keciorengucu midway through the 2022/23 season, when both clubs were seeking promotion to the topflight.

He contributed three goals and two assists in 16 league games to help them gain promotion and doubled his efforts in the topflight last term, scoring eight goals and three assists in 36 games.
