Rwandan Soldier Opens Fire At A Bar, Killing Five Persons

A 39 year old Rwandan soldier has killed five civilians at a bar in the South Western part of Rwanda.

The incident which was reported by the Rwandan military took place in the early hours of Wednesday, November 13.

“Rwandan Defence Force (RDF) has arrested the suspect and will take necessary legal action against him,” the East African country’s military said in a statement.

The motive for the shooting,  remains unclear, however, the RDF has identified the gunman as a 39-year-old sergeant.

This latest incident comes as Rwanda battles with crimes committed by soldiers.

Six Rwandan soldiers were detained in the year 2020 on charges of allegedly raping and assaulting civilians during the Covid pandemic lockdown in the Kangondo slum.
