Ondo Election: We didn’t send thugs to Idanre – APC

The Publicity Secretary of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State Steve Otaloro, has dismissed allegations by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that the APC sent thugs to disrupt the governorship election in Ofosun, Idanre Local Government Area. Otaloro stated that reports reaching the APC have confirmed that no such incident occurred.

“I’m currently in the APC situation room, and I can categorically say there is no truth to those claims,” Otaloro said. “The individual you mentioned is the deputy governorship candidate of Agboola Ajayi of the PDP. Just two days ago, PDP held a press conference alleging violence by the APC in certain locations. However, was he on the ground in all the areas he mentioned? If he had been properly diligent, he would have been at his polling unit.”

Otaloro emphasized that all reports from the ground indicated that voting was proceeding peacefully. “We were informed that there was nothing out of the ordinary. If there are any issues, it seems they are being blown out of proportion. No APC member is acting as a party official today; everyone is simply an electorate, and any incidents of violence should be properly investigated. But I can assure you, none of it came from our members.”

He further questioned the plausibility of the claims, pointing out the remote nature of the areas in question. “How could our members have infiltrated those local areas? These are farm settlements with difficult routes. The allegation does not make sense,” Otaloro stated. “It’s more likely that their plans were thwarted, and that’s why they are making these accusations.”

Otaloro reiterated that since the election began, it has been peaceful, and he called for it to continue in the same manner. “We, as a political party, are committed to peace, and we have instructed our members to ensure that peace prevails throughout this election process
