Kebbi State Government Slams PDP over Destructive Opposition

The Kebbi State Government has criticised the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for what it described as “destructive opposition.”

The Commissioner of Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmad, made this disclosure during a press briefing at the Government House Press Centre, Birnin Kebbi.

Yakubu Ahmad accused the opposition of being unfair to the current administration, alleging that they are unhappy with the transformational progress being witnessed in the state.

He stated that the opposition’s aim appears to be to distract the government from its efforts to improve the lives of the people.

The commissioner emphasised that since the creation of Kebbi State, no administration has been as focused and responsive as the current one, particularly in addressing emergencies such as security challenges.

He highlighted the government’s decisive action in addressing the issue of Lakurawa, noting that through the support of security forces, the administration successfully neutralized threats posed by criminal elements.

On criticisms regarding the governor’s frequent travels, Ahmad described them as baseless and uninformed. He explained that these travels are aimed at fostering partnerships and collaborations that will soon translate into significant infrastructural and economic development for the state.

The commissioner further remarked that while constructive opposition can enhance governance and accountability, the current destructive approach by the PDP does little to contribute to the state’s progress. He called on the opposition to adopt a more objective stance, focusing on solutions and engaging in meaningful dialogue that benefits Kebbi State and its people.

Yakubu Ahmad reassured residents that the government remains committed to its developmental agenda and urged them to support the administration in achieving its goals.
