Russia Gave N. Korea Oil, Anti-Air Missiles in Exchange for Troops – Officials
Russia has provided North Korea with oil, anti-aircraft missiles, and economic assistance in exchange for troops to support Moscow’s ongoing war in Ukraine, according to government officials and a research group.
The United States and South Korea have accused North Korea of sending over 10,000 soldiers to aid Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, with experts suggesting that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is seeking advanced technology and combat experience for his military in return.
South Korea’s top security advisor, Shin Won-sik, confirmed that North Korea had received equipment, including anti-aircraft missiles, to bolster its air defense system, which is considered vulnerable.
Speaking to newsmen Shin also noted that North Korea had received “various forms of economic support” from Russia.
In a separate report, the non-profit research group Open Source Centre revealed that satellite images indicated North Korea has received multiple oil shipments from Russia
