The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Salako Oyedele, has officially launched the fifth edition of the Dapo Abiodun Youth Programme, an annual event that combines entertainment and youth empowerment.
The announcement took place during a meeting with the event’s organizers at her Oke Mosan office. Scheduled for December 20 at the June 12 Cultural Centre, this year’s programme will focus on honoring individuals and stakeholders who have supported initiatives aimed at advancing youth causes.
Unlike last year’s event, which centered on national issues and youth participation, this edition will prioritize celebrating those who have contributed to the growth of youth ideals. In her speech, the Deputy Governor emphasized the pivotal role of youth in Ogun State’s socio-economic development, underscoring the importance of creativity and innovation.
She described the youth as key drivers of the state’s peace and economic progress and called for greater collaboration between young people and the government. She further pledged the government’s full support for the event, stating, “The role of youth in the socio-cultural and economic landscape of the state cannot be overemphasized. Ogun youth are the future brands of the state and must be actively involved in leadership and development.”
The programme, which will feature raffles, games, musical performances, and awards, aims to empower vulnerable youths and create a sense of belonging under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
Convener of the event, Rasheed Aroboto, who also serves as the Special Adviser on Sports Development, reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting Ogun youth through targeted empowerment initiatives.
He described the youth as “formidable determinants” of progress, deserving of recognition and celebration.
The Dapo Abiodun Youth Programme Season 5 is expected to attract a large audience, reaffirming its role as a vital platform for youth development in Ogun State.
