The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has announced that it will commence the airlift of intending pilgrims to the Holy Land on December 22, 2024.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the commission’s Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations, Celestine Toruka, on Tuesday.
The Executive Secretary of NCPC Stephen Adegbite, made the announcement during a meeting with the Conference of States, which included Chairmen and Secretaries of Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), held in Abuja. The meeting focused on the upcoming pilgrimage operations and strategies to ensure smooth proceedings.
The statement quoted Adegbite emphasizing the importance of divine guidance for the members of the Conference of States, urging them to serve the people with integrity and dedication. He also reiterated the NCPC’s policy of zero tolerance for abscondment and corruption, highlighting the commission’s commitment to upholding high standards during the pilgrimage.
Adegbite expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, which has been instrumental in putting Nigeria “back on track” in terms of pilgrimage management, despite the challenges faced. He assured that the pilgrimage would proceed smoothly, with the grace of God leading the way.
In his remarks, David Moradeyo, Chairman of the Conference of States, thanked Adegbite for his effective leadership of the NCPC. He noted that the meeting would serve as a valuable platform for robust discussions regarding the December pilgrimage. Moradeyo also shared that the Conference of States had called on its members to fast and pray for the success of the pilgrimage operation, seeking divine intervention for smooth logistics and safety.
As the airlift date draws near, the NCPC has expressed readiness to facilitate a seamless pilgrimage experience for Nigerian Christians, marking a significant event in the annual religious journey to the Holy Land.
