PSC Chairman Warns Against Bribery in Police Academy Admission Process

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has issued a stern warning to candidates involved in the ongoing admission process into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, stressing that any attempt to bribe or compromise the process will lead to immediate disqualification.

Argungu made this declaration during a supervisory visit to the academy, where he led a high-level delegation to oversee the 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening. He emphasized that the admission exercise must be conducted with utmost integrity, fairness, and transparency.

According to a statement by the PSC’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, Argungu urged candidates to refrain from unethical practices, stating, “Any candidate negotiating to pay money for consideration should be weeded out. The process must run on merit and transparency.” He further affirmed that the commission would ensure that the academy’s admission process is based on merit, with accountability and fairness at the forefront.

During his visit, Argungu inspected various academy facilities, including the moot court, clinic, library, lecture theatres, and screening centers. He addressed concerns about malfunctioning computers and instructed that they be repaired promptly to guarantee the smooth running of the screening process.

The PSC Chairman also commended the academy’s leadership, particularly the Commandant, AIG Abubakar Sadiq, for implementing innovative measures, such as computer-based testing.

Argungu praised the transparent system, which allows candidates to view their results immediately after submission, ensuring further accountability in the admission process.
