The Jigawa State Government has approved the allocation of N117 million to establish a pilot Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion center in Dutse, the state capital.
This approval was made during the Executive Council meeting held on Thursday, as revealed by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, in a statement released on Friday.
Musa explained that the approval aligns with the administration’s efforts to mitigate the challenges caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy. Governor Umar Namadi had previously pledged in September to establish 27 CNG conversion centers across the state.
He emphasized that this initiative aims to reduce fuel costs by up to 60 percent, providing much-needed relief to residents.
In addition to this, the Executive Council also endorsed the proposed 2025 state budget and the appropriation bills for the 27 local government councils, which will now be presented to the Jigawa House of Assembly by Governor Namadi.
