Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has revealed that Nigerian startups founded by migrants attracted over $800 million in investments in 2022.

He made this statement during the 10th Annual National Migration Dialogue, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The event was themed, “Beyond Borders: Celebrating Migrants’ Legacy, Protecting Their Rights.”

Shettima also highlighted that Nigeria leads West Africa in diaspora remittances, emphasizing the significant contributions of Nigerian migrants to the global economy.

He pointed out that, in addition to remittances, Nigerian migrants are excelling across various fields such as technology, medicine, sports, and the creative arts, serving as global ambassadors.

The Vice President reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s commitment to addressing migration-related challenges.
