Magistrate Court Denies Human Rights Activist Dele Farotimi Bail

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has denied Dele Farotimi, a prominent human rights activist, bail in an alleged defamation case involving Aare Afe Babalola, the presiding founder of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD).

Farotimi was arraigned on charges of defaming Afe Babalola. During Tuesday’s resumed sitting, the magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, ruled to adjourn the bail application to December 20. This came after the police counsel, Samson Osobu, argued that the bail application filed by the defendant was incompetent and irregular.

The court’s decision follows the ongoing legal proceedings, and Farotimi’s bail request will be reconsidered at the next scheduled hearing.
