The President-Elect of Ghana, John Mahama has paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, disclosed this in a post on X.com on Tuesday.
He wrote, “The President-Elect of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama paid a courtesy visit to President Tinubu at his residence, Presidential Villa, State House Yesterday.”
This visit comes after Tinubu congratulates Mahama on his victory after winning Ghana’s December 7, general election.
Photos from the meeting, which also had in attendance First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, were shared on social media by presidential aide, Olusegun Dada.
The meeting may not be unconnected to the victory recorded by Mahama at the Ghana presidential election.
Mahama, who ruled Ghana between 2012 and 2017, won the election by defeating his main opponent, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
The 65-year-old polled 56.5% of votes cast, or 6.3 million votes while Bawumia, who has since conceded defeat, got 41%, or 4.6 million votes.
In his inaugural speech, Mahama promised to lead Ghana to the state of being able to meet basic needs like healthcare, food, education, good wages, etc.
He will be sworn in as the sixth democratically elected President of the West African country on January 7.
