The Federal Ministry of Works has welcomed a new Permanent Secretary, Olufunsho Olusesan Adebiyi, who succeeds Yakubu Adams Kofarmata. The handover took place during a modest ceremony at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, as announced in a statement by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed.
In his farewell address, the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Kofarmata, expressed gratitude to the staff for their cooperation throughout his tenure and urged them to offer the same support to his successor. “I ask that you extend the same hands of cooperation, support, and comradeship to him, and I am sure you will never regret it,” Kofarmata said.
In his acceptance speech, Adebiyi praised Kofarmata’s exemplary leadership and dedication to the Ministry, noting the significant mentorship he provided to the staff. “Many of the Ministry’s staff have learned a great deal from working with him. He has always been there for the staff, ensuring that the right things were done,” Adebiyi remarked.
Adebiyi called for continued dedication and teamwork, acknowledging the significant challenges faced by both the Ministry and the nation. “I want to assure you that I will do my best, by the grace of God. The challenges are enormous, but I am confident we will overcome them together,” he said.
He also addressed concerns about the perceived uneven distribution of projects across the country’s geopolitical zones, stressing the importance of resolving such issues amicably. Adebiyi reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fulfilling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to provide critical road infrastructure in alignment with the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
