Abia State Wins $.4m In UNICEF PHC Programme

Abia State has won $.4m prize in a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) primary health care (PHC) programme tagged “Leadership Challenge.”

The governor, Alex Otti announced this during his monthly media briefing tagged “Governor Otti speaks to Abians,” for December in Umuahia, the state capital.

Speaking at the event, Otii said, “Our dear state came second in the programme in the South East as it did last year. We’ re hoping that by next year we’ill make it to the first position.

“This, we intend to do within 100 days while progress is made on the proposed medical village, details of which would be disclosed by the first quarter of next year.

“We believe it is still early days, by the time we complete all these projects that we have in our hands, I think the story will be different.’’ Otti assured.

He said his administration had done much in the health sector including the ongoing retrofitting of 200 primary healthcare centres across the state.

The Abia State Ministry of Health is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of all citizens within the state.

Through the implementation of comprehensive healthcare policies, health education, and innovative programs, the Ministry strives to ensure that every resident has access to high-quality healthcare services.
