Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the sum of ₦100,000 as a Christmas bonus for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state. The announcement was made through a statement signed by the State’s Head of Service, George Nwaeke, on Tuesday.
The approval, granted on Monday, is aimed at ensuring workers and senior citizens in Rivers State can celebrate Christmas with greater joy and fulfillment. This is the second time during Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants have received a Christmas bonus of ₦100,000 an amount that surpasses the country’s national minimum wage. This marks a significant step as pensioners are being included for the first time in this festive gesture.
Governor Fubara also issued a heartfelt Christmas message, calling on the people of Rivers State to foster peace, unity, and love throughout the holiday season and beyond. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, particularly in light of Nigeria’s current economic and security challenges.
He further assured the people of Rivers State that the coming year would bring new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
