Katsina Police Arrest 916 Criminals, Neutralize 40 Bandits, and Rescue 319 Kidnap Victims in 2023

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, has announced that the police command made significant strides in tackling crime throughout 2023, arresting 916 criminals, neutralizing 40 bandits, and rescuing 319 kidnapped victims. Speaking at an end-of-year event held in Katsina on Monday, Musa highlighted the command’s efforts to reduce crime rates and ensure the safety and security of the state’s residents.

“Throughout the year, our command has shown unwavering commitment to fighting crime, resulting in a significant reduction in criminal activities across the state,” Musa said. “We have dismantled notorious criminal networks, recovered substantial exhibits, and successfully brought numerous perpetrators to justice.”

“We have rescued over 319 victims from the clutches of kidnappers and bandits, reuniting them with their families and loved ones.

“We have neutralised 40 bandits, disrupting their operations and making our communities safer.

“We have recovered 2,081 rustled animals, returning them to their rightful owners and boosting the local economy.”

Speaking further, he said, “We have arrested 199 suspected armed robbers, taking them off the streets and making our communities more secure.

“We have also charged 23 major drug dealers to court, disrupting the supply of illicit substances and promoting a safer, healthier society.

“We’ve successfully arrested and prosecuted 32 suspected vandals, ensuring that those who seek to destroy our community’s property are brought to justice.

“Our diligent work has also led to the arrest of 89 suspected motor vehicle thieves and the recovery of over 27 motor vehicles and motorcycles, making our roads safer for everyone.

“Furthermore, we’ve apprehended 573 suspects for various offences, including criminal force, intimidation, and breach of trust, demonstrating our commitment to tackling all forms of crime.”

Musa also emphasized the importance of community policing, noting that the command’s efforts had fostered stronger relationships with the public and contributed to improved safety across the state.

“We’ve made significant upgrades to our facilities, including the police clinic and divisional headquarters, ensuring that we are well-equipped to respond efficiently to emergencies,” he said.

He thanked other security agencies for their collaboration and cooperation throughout the year, acknowledging that their collective efforts have been instrumental in achieving these successes.

Governor Dikko Radda, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu, also acknowledged the security challenges faced by the state but commended the police for their dedication to safeguarding Katsina’s citizens.
