The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the death of two officers in a fierce gun battle with Lakurawa bandits who attacked Alhaji Lawal Block Farm and nearby Fulani settlements in Natsini village, located along the Argungu-Kangiwa road. The attack occurred when the assailants rustled an unspecified number of cattle during their raid.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, it was revealed that the police received a distress report and immediately deployed a team from the Police Safer Highway patrol to the scene. The officers engaged the bandits in a gunfight, eventually forcing them to flee into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds. During the operation, some of the stolen cattle were successfully recovered.
Kebbi State’s Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, condemned the tragic loss of the two officers and offered his prayers for their souls. Following the attack, the Commissioner conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the scene and later visited the Emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Mera, to express condolences and brief him on the ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle crime in the region.
