BUA Group, a prominent industrial conglomerate, has responded to claims that its 200,000 barrels per day refinery in Akwa Ibom is 90% complete, stating that the project is progressing steadily but has not yet reached that milestone.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the company clarified that while the refinery is not at 90% completion, construction is on track to meet its scheduled delivery timelines in collaboration with its partners.
“While the refinery is not at 90% completion, we are on track to meet our delivery timelines,” the group said, underscoring the importance of the project in enhancing Nigeria’s refining capacity and energy security.
The statement also highlighted BUA’s commitment to several other major energy projects, including a mini-LNG plant and hybrid power plants across the country, aimed at expanding the company’s existing over 1,000MW captive power generation capacity.
BUA Group urged the public to verify news through official channels to avoid being misled by inaccurate reports, warning against “mischievous persons” who spread false information.
In addition, the company reflected on its track record of success, mentioning over $3.5 billion in mega industrial projects completed over the past decade. “At BUA, we remain committed to transparency and excellence,” the statement emphasized, promising continued updates as key milestones are achieved.
The company expressed appreciation for the public’s interest in the refinery project and reassured stakeholders of its commitment to providing accurate and verifiable information.
