A student at a school located in an Abuja suburb has been confirmed dead while four others were injured during an explosion at the school.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred around noon on Monday, January 6, 2025, sending shockwaves through the community, located approximately 42 kilometers from Abuja’s city centre.
Emergency response teams, including the police bomb disposal squad, quickly arrived at the scene, and the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
According to reports, the deceased student may have been carrying a substance suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when it detonated.
However, the police have not yet commented on the incident, and details of the explosion remain unclear.
While police and security officials have yet to comment on the incident, efforts to reach FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, have been unsuccessful. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing.
