La Liga: Real Madrid’s Vinicius bags two-match ban

Brazilian and Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is expected to miss two league fixtures against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid due to his red card against Valencia.

Vinicius was sent off for hitting Valencia keeper Stole Dimitrievski as the La Liga champions won their first La Liga fixture of 2025 at the Mestalla.

However, the Brazilian will be allowed to play the Spanish Super Cup this week.

Valencia led in the first half through their highest goal scorer, Hugo Duro this season so far, before a dramatic second-half comeback saw substitute Luka Modric level the game in the 85th minute and Jude Bellingham scored a dramatic added-time winner.

The result meant Real Madrid went ahead of Atlético Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, two points clear of their rivals and having played a game more.

After the game, Vinicius tweeted, “Sorry, and thanks, team!”
