Troops from Sector 7 of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully apprehended a notorious gunrunner and his accomplice, confiscating a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a recent operation in Kaduna State.
The operation, which was based on intelligence gathered, took place on Sunday, January 20, in Fadiya Village, located in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area. The arrested suspects were identified as 62-year-old Timothy Yusuf and his son, Timothy Obadiah.
According to Zagazola Makama, the troops recovered 11 fabricated rifles, two AK-47 magazines, and 60 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition from the suspects.
“The suspects, along with the seized weapons and ammunition, are currently in custody for further investigation. Efforts are also underway to locate and apprehend other members of the gunrunning syndicate,” a source confirmed.
The operation marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to combat arms trafficking and insecurity in the region.
