The Jigawa State Government has announced that it will provide free education for all female indigenes in state-owned institutions, covering every level from primary school to PhD.
The initiative, led by Governor Umar Namadi, aims to empower women through education and promote gender equality in the state.
Confirming the development, Jigawa State Commissioner for Higher Education, Isa Chamo, said, “We are confident that this programme will have a lasting impact on the lives of our female students. This is a significant step toward promoting gender equality and empowering women through education. By offering free education to female indigenes, the Jigawa State Government is enabling women to take control of their lives, make informed decisions, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
Chamo further explained that the initiative is designed to encourage more girls to pursue education without the barrier of financial constraints hindering their aspirations.
Alhaji Sa’idu Magaji, Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Scholarships Board, spoke on the programme’s implementation, emphasizing the commitment behind it: “The board has been working tirelessly to ensure the successful rollout of this initiative. We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of our female students, and we are dedicated to supporting them every step of the way.”
