NDLEA Arrests Two Suspects with Drugs, Weapons in Kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspects, Musa Usman, 25, and Buhari Ya’u Bashir, 24, following a targeted operation at Rahama Round in Bebeji Local Government Area. The raid, conducted on January 20, 2025, led to the discovery of illicit drugs and weapons, resulting in a violent confrontation with the suspects.

According to the NDLEA, the operation seized 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa (wrapped), 8 grams (38 tablets) of diazepam, and 59 grams (165 tablets) of Exol. State Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad confirmed the arrests and condemned the violent behavior of the suspects.

“During the operation, one of the suspects, Musa Usman, who was armed with a dagger, attempted to attack our officers, injuring one of them,” Ahmad said. The injured officer is currently receiving medical treatment, and the State Commander assured the public that the agency remains committed to its mission.

“Attacks on law enforcement officers in the line of duty will not deter us from our responsibility to eliminate the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking in society,” Ahmad emphasized.

The suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution for drug-related offenses and assaulting a law enforcement officer. Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, reiterated the agency’s firm stance on drug-related crimes.

“This operation highlights the NDLEA’s determination to ensure Kano State is free from the grip of illicit drugs,” Maigatari stated.

The NDLEA also urged the public to report any suspicious activities to support the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
