The Federal Government has extended its congratulations to Donald Trump following his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.
A statement released on Tuesday, signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the long-standing cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in areas of mutual interest, including the promotion of good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
“Nigeria looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant strategic partnership for the benefit of all our people,” the statement read.
Trump was sworn in for a historic second term as president on Monday.
Following his inauguration, he immediately announced over 100 policies he intends to implement, including a proposal to revoke birthright citizenship for immigrants and travelers without proper authorization, as well as a threat to deport illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S.
