The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), has made significant strides in securing Taraba State, apprehending a suspected Boko Haram terrorist in the process.
In a statement released to the press on Tuesday, Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Brigade’s acting spokesperson, confirmed that the suspect was arrested on January 26, 2025, following actionable intelligence.
The suspect, identified as Gambo Grema, also known as Gamboi, was tracked and captured in Mai-Hula town, located in the Bali Local Government Area of the state. During initial interrogation, Grema confessed to being part of a Boko Haram syndicate that had infiltrated Taraba. His group had planned to engage in kidnapping for ransom to finance their terrorist activities and establish a new operational cell in the region.
Grema further revealed that members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) were collaborating with the Boko Haram group to carry out additional criminal operations.

He reaffirmed the brigade’s ongoing dedication to counterterrorism efforts and maintaining the safety of the local population. He also stressed the importance of continued cooperation among security forces in the fight against terrorism.
