PETROAN Welcomes Gas Distribution Licenses, Partners with Dangote/MRS to Improve Petroleum Distribution

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has emphasized the importance of issuing gas distribution licenses to petroleum marketers, calling it a key move in reshaping the country’s oil and gas sector.

In a statement released on Tuesday, PETROAN’s spokesperson, Joseph Obele, expressed strong support for the initiative following the announcement by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), which granted the licenses to oil marketers. PETROAN explained that the move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s ongoing gas expansion goals.

The association highlighted that the licenses aim to promote a seamless distribution of gas across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, furthering the government’s ambitious energy goals. The statement read, “Licensees were urged to fully utilize their licenses to support the realization of the President’s gas expansion initiative, ensuring smooth distribution nationwide.”

Additionally, PETROAN announced a significant partnership with Dangote Refinery and MRS, aimed at improving petroleum product distribution across the country. This new collaboration is expected to enhance the efficiency and value for money that Nigerians receive when purchasing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), eliminating the price disparities that have often plagued the sector.

The National President of PETROAN Billy Gillis Harry, described the partnership as a major step forward for both consumers and the industry. “This partnership is a demonstration of Dangote Refinery’s commitment to Nigeria, alongside PETROAN, ensuring Nigerians get the best value for their money, with transportation costs factored into the pricing,” he said.

Harry also expressed optimism about the future of the sector, encouraging Nigerians to stay hopeful as these strategic moves set the stage for more efficient and affordable petroleum distribution in the near future.
