
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deepest condolences to the families, parents, and guardians who lost loved ones in the tragic fire that broke out at an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the President offered his sympathies to the state government and the school owners, praying for the speedy recovery of those receiving medical treatment.
The fire, which occurred late Tuesday, claimed the lives of at least 17 children at the Islamiya school, with 16 other students injured. Abdulrasaq Bello Kaura, a local resident, confirmed the incident, noting the devastating loss.
President Tinubu urged both public and private schools to prioritize the safety and security of children at all times. He also instructed regulatory authorities in the education sector to enforce strict compliance with safety standards to prevent such incidents in the future.
In his message, the President prayed that Almighty God would grant eternal rest to the souls of the deceased and provide comfort to their grieving families.
The incident has drawn widespread attention to the importance of safety measures in educational institutions across the country.
