PE Energy Limited, a leading energy services company, has unveiled a new technology—Multi-phase Pump and Systems—designed to eliminate gas flaring and enhance oil production in Nigeria. The technology was introduced at an oil and gas seminar held in Lagos on Tuesday, 4 February 2025.
The event, organized in collaboration with ITT Bornemann GmbH, was themed “Eliminating Gas Flaring and Reducing CAPEX in Production Fields: A Sustainable Approach.”
In an interview with journalists, Daere Akobo, Chairman of PANA Holdings and Group CEO of PE Energy Limited, explained that the seminar aimed to introduce innovative technology to oil and gas exploration companies that could reduce carbon and methane emissions, improve efficiency through increased oil production, and support Nigeria’s net-zero goals.
Akobo emphasized that deploying this new technology in production fields would foster environmental stewardship, improve the social well-being of local communities, and align with President Bola Tinubu’s policy on methane emission reduction, ultimately helping to lower oil production costs.
He highlighted the urgent need for stakeholders to focus on the growing environmental hazard of gas flaring. Akobo also commended both past and current administrations for developing the National Gas Policy of 2020, which promotes the transition from flaring to capturing and commercializing the flared gas.
