2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Eric Chelle ‘begs’ Musa, Kanu, Mikel to motivate Super Eagles

Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has confirmed that the efforts of legends like Jay-Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu to rally the team and support will help to demonstrate his commitment to turning the team’s fortunes around.

The Malian is confident that the team will bounce back to contention in their qualifying group with crucial wins against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The Eagles are currently fifth in the six-team group with just three points from four matches.

Chelle has been busy meeting with players in Europe, preparing them for the battles ahead.

“I have invited Nigerian legends to join us in this battle, and I’m happy that they have accepted,” Chelle said, according to mainlandmetro via The Guardian.

“I want to assure Nigerians that we are going to have a good preparation for the matches, and we will do whatever it takes to be back on track.”

The Super Eagles face Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and then host Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25.

Chelle is expected to return to Nigeria soon to finalise preparations with home-based players ahead of the squad announcement for the qualifiers.
