
A tragic accident beneath the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge at Hotoro NNPC, in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, claimed the lives of at least seven people and left several others seriously injured.
According to a survivor, the incident occurred around midnight on Thursday. The truck, which was en route from Takai Local Government Area to Lagos State, was carrying about 70 passengers and livestock at the time of the crash.
Saleh Karsha, the ward head of Karsha Gabas in Takai, confirmed the casualties, revealing that he had taken custody of five bodies, including that of his son, Baban Jummai, as most of the victims were from his area.
According to him by Friday morning, the death toll had risen to seven, while more than 40 injured victims were receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), swiftly arrived at the scene. The injured victims were evacuated to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital and Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical care.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the accident, but investigations are ongoing.
