Ogun Governor Pledges to Provide Electric Motorcycles and Drones to Police to Enhance Security

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has announced plans to provide electric motorcycles to the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to improve security operations across the state. He revealed the initiative during the opening ceremony of the 5th Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In addition to the electric motorcycles, Governor Abiodun shared that his administration is collaborating with a French company to provide advanced drones that can detect criminal activity from as high as 8,000 feet, further strengthening the state’s surveillance capabilities.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, called on all commands of the Nigeria Police Force to implement a comprehensive action plan aimed at reducing crime rates by 50% in 2025. Egbetokun’s directive aligns with the theme of the 2025 Conference and Retreat, “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,” which reflects President Bola Tinubu’s security agenda.

The IGP emphasized that this plan is designed to foster a police force that is highly professional, intelligence-driven, and well-equipped to proactively tackle emerging security threats.
