Kanayo O. Kanayo Calls Out Instagram for Follower Decline

Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo has voiced his frustration with Meta, the parent company of Instagram, over a significant drop in his followers on the platform. In a video shared on Instagram, the actor expressed concerns that his follower count, which was once around 2.2 to 2.3 million, had fallen to 1.9 million over the past seven to eight months.
Kanayo questioned how it was possible for his followership not to have grown in that period, emphasizing that the issue was not unique to him but widespread among content creators. He accused Instagram of unfair treatment and called out the platform for the decline in engagement, stressing that creators like him are vital to the platform’s success.
He stated, “It is that my followership has not added up to one thousand for seven to eight months? It’s a matter of concern because it’s happening to a lot of people. We are using a platform that we have no control over, and the way they are treating us is very bad.”
The actor appealed to Instagram’s owners, urging them to treat content creators fairly, as their success is also beneficial to the platform.
