Nigerian Defence Academy Issues Warning to Kaduna Residents Ahead of Shooting Exercise

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a cautionary notice to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna State, urging them to avoid the academy’s open range during an upcoming shooting exercise.

The announcement, made by the academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, stated that the exercise will take place from February 26 to March 1, 2025. It is part of the advanced training for the Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course, and will involve live firing exercises essential for the cadets’ development.

Maidawa emphasized the significance of safety during the exercise, noting that barriers and warning signs will be placed around the designated range areas to indicate restricted zones. He specifically urged farmers, pedestrians, and cattle herders to heed the warnings and avoid the area to ensure their safety.

“The NDA is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens in the surrounding communities,” Maidawa assured. “We urge full cooperation from the local residents. By staying clear of the designated area, you can help safeguard both your own safety and the success of the training.”

The exercise’s live firing is crucial for the military training, and the NDA has reassured the public that all necessary precautions will be in place to avoid any accidents.
