US Announces 2025 Visa Waiver Program List: UK Removed, Romania Added, No African Countries Included

The United States has released the list of countries eligible for its 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP), with notable updates affecting several nations. While the list remains largely unchanged, Romania has been newly added, marking a significant update.

However, the United Kingdom has been removed from the program but retains eligibility under specific conditions. Countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, which are part of the African continent, have not been included on the updated list.

The U.S. Visa Waiver Program allows citizens of eligible countries to visit the U.S. for tourism or business for up to 90 days without needing a visa. Travelers must obtain approval through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to travel and meet all other necessary requirements. For those who prefer a visa, a visitor visa application is still an option.

The 2025 Visa Waiver Program also introduces updates on permit eligibility, changes in the list of participating countries, and new travel policies aimed at streamlining the process for eligible travelers.
