Lagos Assembly Demands Immediate Release of Staff Detained by DSS

The leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly has called for the immediate release of three of its staff members who were arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) and are still in custody.

The staff members were reportedly detained last Friday for questioning regarding an incident from the previous Monday, during which DSS operatives stormed the Assembly, claiming they were acting on an invitation.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) Lagos Chapter Babatunde Ogunlana, made a public appeal for action. Speaking to the media and fellow assembly members, Ogunlana urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Director-General of the DSS, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), along with other relevant authorities, to step in and ensure the swift release of the detained staff.

Ogunlana expressed the union’s strong resolve, declaring, “No Retreat, No Surrender” in their demand for justice. The situation has sparked calls for immediate intervention from key state and national bodies to address the matter.
