Bomb explodes in Pakistani Islamic seminary, kills six

A bomb explosion occurred on Friday during prayers at an Islamic seminary in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least six worshippers.

The seminary, known as a historic training ground for the Afghan Taliban, was the site of the attack.

The blast also left several others wounded, including Maulana Hamid-ul-Haq, the head of the religious school and son of the late Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, who is regarded as the father of the Taliban.

Police officer Najeebur Rahman stated that Haq was in critical condition following the explosion.

At the time of writing, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Pakistan is currently grappling with two major insurgencies: one led by Islamist militants and the other by ethnic groups seeking secession, citing grievances over the government’s handling of natural resource distribution.
