Stuttgart, Leeds want Dennis

Young Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis is starting to attract attention from European clubs following his solid performances for Göztepe in Turkey’s Super Lig. The 20-year-old, who was recently called up to Nigeria’s 39-man provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, has caught the eye of both Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga and Leeds United in the English Championship.

Dennis has been a standout player for Göztepe, contributing three assists in 20 appearances, with his most recent assist coming in a 2-2 draw against Samsunspor. His versatility, with the ability to control play from central midfield and operate as a box-to-box player, has made him a valuable asset for the Turkish side.

Although Dennis signed a contract extension with Göztepe in May 2024, keeping him at the club until 2027, the growing interest from European clubs, such as Stuttgart and Leeds, could complicate the club’s efforts to hold onto him. With his talent now being recognized on the international stage as well, Dennis looks set for an exciting future, whether he remains in Turkey or makes the move to one of Europe’s top leagues.

It’ll be interesting to see if one of these clubs will make a move in the summer transfer window, or if Dennis’ performances in the World Cup qualifiers help elevate his profile even further.
