Niger Delta Leaders Set for Key Discussions with President Tinubu and National Assembly Members

Leaders from the Niger Delta region, under the umbrella of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), are scheduled to engage in important discussions with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja this morning. PANDEF, which represents the traditional rulers, leaders, and key stakeholders of the Niger Delta’s coastal states, continues to be a critical voice for the region.

The forum, founded by the late elder statesman Edwin Clark, aims to promote the interests of the Niger Delta. Following their session with President Tinubu, the leaders will hold another meeting in the afternoon with Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, as well as National Assembly members from the South-South region.

Former Governors of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states, HRM Alfred Diete-Spiff and Obong Victor Attach, serve as co-chairmen of PANDEF’s Board of Trustees. Meanwhile, Ambassador Godknows Igali, a former federal permanent secretary and seasoned diplomat, serves as the national chairman.

A member of the group disclosed to journalists that PANDEF’s leaders held an expanded National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Monday at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja. Following their earlier discussion with President Tinubu, the group will continue their advocacy and seek alignment with South-South lawmakers in the afternoon.

The meetings are expected to address crucial regional issues, including development, security, and the broader concerns of the Niger Delta.
