Tanker Explosion on Karu Bridge Sparks Inferno, Multiple Vehicles Destroyed

A devastating tanker explosion on Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday resulted in a massive fire, engulfing at least 30 vehicles.

The explosion, caused by a petrol-laden tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), occurred after the vehicle lost control and crashed, triggering an inferno that quickly spread to surrounding cars.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as motorists and passengers scrambled to escape the advancing flames. Some individuals are feared to have perished in the blaze, although the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed at this stage.

A swift emergency response was mounted, with military personnel and emergency responders working tirelessly to manage the situation. Security forces have cordoned off the area, redirecting traffic to allow firefighting teams and medical units to operate effectively.

As rescue operations continue, authorities are yet to determine the full scale of the damage and loss of life.
