Power Outage Strikes Abuja, Affecting Embassies and Residential Estates as AEDC Addresses Technical Fault

A fresh power outage has disrupted multiple embassies and residential estates in Abuja, with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) attributing the disruption to a technical fault on the feeder that powers these areas.

The power cut has left several foreign missions, including those of the United States, Turkey, Cuba, Ethiopia, Iran, Liberia, Egypt, and Japan, without electricity, alongside surrounding neighborhoods.

Notable residential areas impacted by the outage include Brains & Hammer City Estate, Today Estate, Dape District, Katsina Estate, Paradise Estate, Ochacho Estate, Kafe District, the American Embassy Estate, and parts of Gwarinpa.

In response, AEDC issued an official statement reassuring affected customers that their technical team was working around the clock to restore power as swiftly as possible.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused by this outage and sincerely thank our customers for their patience as we resolve the issue. Our dedicated team is on-site and committed to bringing things back to normal,” the statement read.

In addition, AEDC also alerted prepaid customers to a scheduled maintenance activity that would temporarily disrupt vending services.

This brief window on Sunday, March 23, 2025, may cause momentary interruptions when recharging meters or accessing vending platforms.

The company stressed that regular service would resume promptly after maintenance is completed, emphasizing that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and efficiency.

“We apologize for any temporary disruptions this may cause and genuinely appreciate your understanding as we continue to improve our service,” the statement concluded.

AEDC assures its customers that their efforts to restore power and maintain top-tier service standards remain a priority, and they remain committed to minimizing any future inconveniences.
