
Gunmen, suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group, have attacked and killed two Customs officers and one local resident in Bachaka, a border community in Argungu Local Government Area, Kebbi State.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the attack occurred on Tuesday, but details regarding the specific unit or formation of the Customs officers involved have not yet been disclosed.
“Yes, there was an attack which led to the deaths of two unidentified Customs officers and a native of Bachaka village,” Abubakar stated.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Sani Bello, visited the scene of the attack and reassured the public of the security forces’ determination to tackle criminal activities in the state. He emphasized that the attack was indicative of the weakening state of the terrorists, attributed to ongoing security operations.
The attack came just a day after combined security forces neutralized two members of the Lakurawa terrorist group in Kebbi, further highlighting the intense security efforts in the region.
