Ukraine loses 235 soldiers in Kursk direction in 24 hours

At least 235 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the past 24 hours in fighting along the Kursk axis, according to a statement released Monday by the Russian Defence Ministry. The ministry claimed the losses were part of ongoing clashes in the region, which borders Russia’s Kursk Oblast and has seen intensified military activity in recent weeks.

In its update, the Russian ministry also stated that, since the beginning of Ukraine’s offensive in the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost more than 74,245 personnel and 406 tanks. These figures, though not independently verified, reflect Moscow’s continued push to frame the conflict as one of high attrition for Kyiv.

In addition to personnel losses, the ministry reported that Ukrainian forces had also lost one armored personnel carrier, three combat armored vehicles, 14 vehicles, and four field artillery systems over the past day.

Military analysts suggest the heightened combat in the region could signal Russia’s effort to solidify control near the border and disrupt Ukrainian supply lines, though Ukraine has yet to publicly respond to the latest casualty claims.

The reported death toll adds to the already staggering human cost of the war, now in its third year, and underscores the grinding nature of battles along the eastern and northern fronts.
